Nardy

Nardy is a backgammon (short nardy) and long nardy game for iPhone. Play against the computer, with a friend on one device, or online — rated live or correspondence games, friends, challenges and leaderboards.

How do I play short nardy (backgammon)?

Each player has 15 checkers and moves them in opposite directions around the board according to the dice. A single checker can be hit and sent to the bar; it must re-enter before you move anything else. A point held by two or more opposing checkers is blocked. Doubles are played four times. Once all your checkers are in your home quarter you bear them off — the first to bear off all 15 wins. A win scores 1 point, a gammon 2 (the loser bore off nothing) and a backgammon 3.

How do I play long nardy?

Both players start with all 15 checkers on their “head” point and move in the same direction. There is no hitting: a point with even one opposing checker is blocked. Only one checker may leave the head per turn — except on your first turn with 6-6, 4-4 or 3-3, when two may. You can't build a wall of six points in a row unless at least one opposing checker is already in front of it. Bear off all checkers first to win: 1 point (oin), or 2 (mars) if your opponent hasn't borne off any.

How do online clocks work?

Every online game is timed per move: blitz gives you 30 seconds for each move, rapid one minute, and daily (correspondence) one day. The time starts when your turn begins — throwing the dice is part of the turn — and resets for every move; nothing carries over. If it runs out, you lose on time. If a player doesn't make their first move within 30 seconds of a live game, the game is aborted and doesn't count. If you have no legal move, your turn is passed automatically.

How do I add friends?

Open the Friends screen, search for the player's @username and send a friend request. Once they accept, you can see when they're online and challenge them to a game. You can also create a challenge and share its code — anyone who enters the code joins your game.

How do I report or block a player?

Open the player's profile (from a game, search or your friends list) and choose Report or Block. Reports go to our moderators — pick a reason (offensive username, cheating, abuse or other) and add a note if you like. A blocked player can't send you friend requests or challenges, won't be matched with you, and you won't see each other in search. You can unblock players from your profile at any time.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Edit profile → Delete account. Your profile, ratings, friends and other personal data are deleted immediately and games in progress are resigned. This can't be undone. See the privacy policy for details.
